From 23 to 25 May, eighth graders from Munich International School (MIS) organized a Solutionary Summit aimed at inspiring young people and fostering their ability to develop solutions to local and global problems. Climate Justice Ambassadors Alina and Elly planned and supported the Solutionary Summit at MIS and report on the successful day:
“One of the vital figures of the Summit was Felix, who played an important role in motivating the young attendees to take action – Felix coming back to his roots,MIS, where it all began. His impact was felt during the opening ceremony on May 23rd, where he shared his inspiring story in front of the entire school, an audience of 1,200 people, along with the additional 300 Summit guests. Students from grades 4 through 10 approached us afterward, eager to learn how they could sign up for the Plant-for-the-Planet Academy. Watch the stream of the opening ceremony here.
The trio of Felix and the two of us led a workshop later that day, providing in-depth education to the attendees. The primary audience was motivated 4th graders, which was so meaningful, considering Felix initiated the movement in 4th grade, and now many others of the same age are eager to combat the climate crisis. Felix began by digging into the organization, sharing insights into everything from the fire alert app to his work in Yucatan, along with the challenges and successes encountered. Alina and Elly then shared their experiences as Plant-for-the-Planet ambassadors, explaining their program education, lessons learned, and actionable steps.
The workshop concluded in a “STOP Talking, START Planting” action, with the entire group gathering outside to plant a tree next to the first one Felix had planted at the school in 2007. This act brought us one step closer to fighting the climate crisis.”
