The Sunnyside Primary School in Pretoria really made the sun shine today. After the introductory presentation by Felix, the 40 best students got together in four working groups to develop the future Plant-for-the-Planet Club “Sunnyside”. After a lively discussion the 40 students (grades 4 to 7) presented their results to an audience of 600 fellow pupils.
We must have made a very good impression with our presentation because the headmistress closed the event by saying “This was the most important day in the history of our school. Today we have learned as much as in the entire past school year. Children are not eligible to vote, but they can influence their future by planting trees and forcing us adults to act.”
