35 more Ambassadors for Nepal in Kathmandu

On 20 December 2012, Global Youth Board President Sagar led Nepal’s second Plant-for-the-Planet Academy in two months.

The Academy took place in Kathmandu and was organised by Sagar with the help of  International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and the Environment Club of Chelsea International Academy, Kathmandu. 35 students from different schools of Kathmandu Valley became the Climate Justice Ambassadors in the ICIMOD Knowledge Park, Godawari.

In addition to the regular Plant-for-the-Planet Academies programme, the participants visited the ICIMOD Knowledge Park; a practical venue for testing sustainable technologies and farming practices and demonstrating them. The participants visited areas of renewable energy technologies; water, vegetation, soil management and biodiversity conservation and discussed how sustainable technologies  can be practiced in Nepal at a local level with our, the children of Plant-for-the-Planet’s, efforts to meet our three point plan.

At the end of the Academy students presented their action-plans and pledged to act for a low-carbon future and Initiated Plant-for-the-Planet Club in their schools.

On this special day, Sagar had this to say: “The end of the world may not come with the end of the Mayan calendar, but with Climate Change surely it will!”

The children empower each other at Plant-for-the-Planet Academies and at the end are appointed Ambassadors for Climate Justice. The Academies are only possible thanks to donations. Help more children to get active like the 40 new Ambassadors for Climate Justice in Nepal. Every little amount counts. You can donate here.
