Plant-for-the-Planet Academy São Francisco Itabapoana (Brazil), 18 May 2012

São Francisco Itabapoana is situated at the northern end of the state of Rio de Janeiro. There an Academy took place in preparation for Rio+20 together with children from the youth meeting “Olhares da Juventude”. In São Francisco Itabapoana is one of the wind farms of Brazil, so that the children of the area are already familiar with the topic of renewable energies. But under the sea there also is a lot of petroleum, the kids learned about the consequences for the climate during the Academy. Afterwards the ambassadors planted trees and named them. The environment agency of the municipality organized the Academy.
