Celebrating the first-ever Plant-for-the-Planet Academy in Turkey!

On January 2nd 2018, the first Plant-for-the-Planet Academy was organised in Turkey at the Nef elementary school. A total of 32 children, aged between 8 and 10 years old, attended the Aacademy, which was organised and moderated by the Climate Justice Ambassador, Fatma Yokus. The children did not plant trees during the Academy due to the unfavorable planting season. However, it was planed together with the head of the school that a planting event would  take place during the summer.. The Academy started with a greeting in Turkish, followed with the t-shirt and chocolate distribution to make the event a sweet one.

The children showed a lot of interest during the presentation and asked  lots of questions concerning  the Climate Crisis. After the presentation, we divided children into 4 groups, each group made of 8 students. We played the World Game where children  received a special Turkish delight for every question they answered correctly.

After the World Game, we watched a famous Turkish cartoon movie about the Climate Crisis. During the second half of the Academy we did a Rhetoric Training activities and carried out the World Cafe. After this last activity, each group presented their ideas about how to rise awareness for the global climate problems and how to include more people to the organization. At the end of the Academy, the children were given the Certificates, that recognize them now as Plant-for-the-Planet Climate Justice Ambassadors.
