We welcome 72 new Climate Justice Ambassadors

The academy commenced at exactly, 10am. The academy had in attendance participating schools, teachers, invited guests and other people.

Prince. Olawuyi Seyi welcomes the participants, introduced his team and the invited climate justice ambassadors:  Victoria and Joy. The two handled the presentation using Power point slide with the theme:  Now We Children Save the World. The power point lectures touched the following areas:  Causes of Climate change, effects, solutions, Green houses Gases, Co2, Climate justice, Renewable Energies and more about Climate Justice Ambassadors and Plant-for-the-Planet’s activities, etc. The program coordinator contributed to the presentation to explain some technical terms to the participants.

The participants watched the film – The Man who planted Trees. After a short break they engaged in World Game in which issues related to countries and how they did emit CO2 were demonstrated.  Later they were broke into four different groups for the World Café in which each group did deliberate on different major topical issues such as: How they  can involve media in promoting the project in Nigeria, how they can organize tree planting party in their communities and schools. The groups were happy to read out the outcomes of their deliberation. During the groups’ presentations some outstanding students who were eloquent and comport themselves excellently were identified.

During the Trees planting session the participants were taught how to plant, the importance of tree planting, the best time to plant and the essence of tree planting. The participants were happy to involve in tree planting activities. 10 Fruit seedlings trees were planted.

Certificates were later presented to the participants. In his closing remarks, the program coordinator- Prince Olawuyi Seyi informed the participants about the forthcoming Youth Conference coming up on 16th March in Ibadan. He urged the climate justice ambassadors to ensure that sensitize their colleagues on the need to plant trees. The Principal of the Host school-Mr. Oloke Abidemi admonished the students to ensure that they should put into practices those lessons that they were learnt during the academy. The academy closed at 4pm to enable participant go home on time.
