Plant-for-the-Planet Academia Colégio Edem (Brasil) 15. June 2012

This academy took place during the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio +20. The private school Colégio Edem and the organization “Sustentarte”, whose aim it is to give children an understanding of the importance of planting trees, invited kids from 5 schools who became Ambassadors for Climate Justice. And of course important topics were the decisions in Rio 20 years ago, especially the agreement of the governments to commit themselves to stop climate change. Another example is the Agenda 21, which states that children should be involved in important decisions. Unfortunately the obligations from 20 years ago didn’t get fulfilled. That is why the children need to rely on their own skills. The children from the Colégio Edem donated two seedlings (and named them “Veta” and “Dilma”), which were planted in the middle of the congress center of Rio+20.
