Plant-for-the-Planet
Sharp at 8:00a.m. o’clock on August 24th, 2013 was given the starting signal of the 2nd “Green Race” organized by Plant-For-The-Planet‘s chapter in Quintana Roo, Mexico. 120runners, 50 of which participated in the 2-kilometer-race, and 70 in the 6-kilometer race, joined the race that day. Several Climate Justice Ambassadors, among others, Luis Siller (Othon P. Blanco), Toño Batun (Solidaridad), Linda and Cesar Garcia Carrillo (Solidaridad) and Jesus Angel Velazquez (Cancun), ran also the competition.
All participants donated a tree as symbolic registration fee to the “Puerto Morelos Green Race 2013“. At the end of the race 100 trees endemic to the region were planted in a “Reforestation Festival”. Mirely Vargas, supporter of our organization in PuertoMorelos was the person responsible for organizing this innovative Green Race.
