Second Plant-for-the-Planet Academy in Puebla, Mexico!

On the Day of the Mexican Revolution (November 20th), the second Plant-for-the-Planet Academy in Puebla took place, this time at the famous Ibero-American University, which is run by Jesuits. Three groups, one from an elementary school, a middle school and from the local scouts, respectively, learned about climate justice and gathered ideas on how they could actively contribute to a more just world themselves.

They were invited to join a planting action on the “Malinche” volcano. Following the Academy, three Avocado trees were planted in the university park. One of them was named “Ignacio” after the founder of the Jesuit order (Ignacio de Loyola). The university gardener will be looking after them. For the next months further Academies are planned in Puebla, among others at the Botanic Gardens which also sent a co-worker to join the Academy.
